Steven Moffat Looks… to the Future!

smithmoffatWe may have to wait until next fall to actually see it, but series eighth of DOCTOR WHO is well into production, if not filming.

Show-runner Steven Moffat explained that, while Matt Smith‘s swansong as the 11th Doctor, the 2013 Christmas Special, doesn’t even start shooting until this Sunday, he’s moved on to season eight:

“We have to work quite a long way in advance. The next season is plotted out. I always end up complaining about it, but it’s quite fun. I’m just making up nonsensical adventures; what’s wrong with that?”

He may have moved past Xmas in his mind, but Moffat has no intention of moving on professionally any time soon. Asked how much longer he will remain in charge of the show, Moffat said:

“Forever. We’re not letting anyone else do it. You take it a year at a time, that’s all you can do. It’s such a commitment. It’s nine or 10 months a year of work, so I think you can only really do that a year at a time anyway.”

I am all for Moffat sticking with the show for years to come — though “forever” may be a wee bit too long. How about another five years?

Oh, yeah? Sez you!
