Disney Is Open to Making Fox-style R-rated Superhero Films

The senses-shattering news that Disney, home to Marvel Studios, has acquired 20th Century Fox‘s library was met with elation by many comic book fans, but the blockbuster deal also struck fear into the hearts of some, who worried that the family-friendly brand would neuter Deadpool’s famously NSFW aesthetic and turn the foul-mouthed and bloody murderer into someone acceptable at a small child’s tea party.

While not a promise, it sounds like Disney is at least willing to consider releasing R-rated superhero movies like Deadpool and Logan in the future — as long as they are segregated from the PG-13 heroes and the kiddie stuff.

First Red Band (NSFW) Trailer for ‘Deadpool’

I’ll be the first to admit that I do not like Marvel’s “Merc with a Mouth,” Deadpool. And I am… let’s say, not the president of Ryan Reynolds‘ fan club. I have next to no interest in the production of the Deadpool movie. But… now there’s this funny, violent trailer, and… well… just watch it.

I can’t explain it, but the movie appears… watchable. There may even be a few *shudder* funny bits. This is shaking my worldview.I guess I can console myself by pointing out has Morena Baccarin and Colossus in it…

Luckily I have until February to reconcile myself with a guilty urge to actually pay to see a Ryan Reynolds Deadpool movie.

‘Power/Rangers’ — the Ultimate Bootleg Film

Power_Rangers_Poster_DebutThis bootleg short film based on the children’s TV series MIGHTY MORPHIN’ POWER RANGERS is called Power/Rangers and was directed by Hollywood veteran Joseph Kahn (Torque), who got big names Katee Sackhoff (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA) and James Van Der Beek (DAWSON’S CREEK) to star in his bloody, foul-language-filled reimagining.

This movie is so far beyond awesome that I can’t even.

Just watch it. (Defintely NSFW or kids):

No One Expects the MPAA Inquisition!!

zerotoleranceRemember when the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) rejected that Sin City: A Dame To Kill For poster because someone could make out a little too much of Eva Green‘s breast through her robe? Well, the censorship board trade panel has taken affront to a poster that shows too much all of Oscar-winning actor Christoph Waltz‘s rear end.

The poster teases the latest flick by director and sh!t-stirrer Terry GilliamMonty Python animator and auteur of such movie masterpieces as Brazil and 12 Monkeys (and the highly underrated The Adventures of Baron Munchausen) — and it’s called The Zero Theorem.

If you enlarge the above photo, you will notice that the tiny male figure is entirely naked. (See, ladies, it is not only the female body that offends America’s Puritanical Sensibilities.)

I’m Too Sexy for Your Poster…

sincity2sexyThe sequel to 2005’s Sin City is coming, but when Sin City: A Dame To Kill For opens on Aug. 22, it will be with a different poster than the one the studio submitted to the Motion Picture Association of America, because the trade group just rejected that image for being too sexy!

The poster in question, seen here, depicts Eva Green in character as femme fatale Ava Lord, the titular dame. The MPAA took one look and clutched its collective pearls over “nudity — curve of under breast and dark nipple/areola circle visible through sheer gown,” according to gossip site Page Six. (Don’t enlarge image if you’re in a NSFW environment.)

Dimension Films, which is distributing the film, confirmed to Deadline that the poster is “being reworked.”

Extended Red-Band Trailer for Kick-Ass 2

Fresh from Comic-Con in San Diego, it’s a new trailer for Kick-Ass 2 — specifically another red-band video, one that is almost twice as long as the previous two clips. And you know what a red trailer means: foul language and violence. In this, 4:35 of mature goodness. Make sure you’re old enough to view this very NSFW material!

Look for Kick-Ass 2 on Aug. 16.

Red-Band Trailer for Kick-Ass 2… Kicks Ass!

Leave it to Kick-Ass 2 to make an impression and leave a mark — its first trailer is a red-band clip full of foul language and ultraviolence. What’s not to love?

Check out the brutal beat-downs and NSFW foulest of language here:

It seems pretty clear from this clip that new director Jeff Wadlow is not taking the franchise in a wildly different direction after taking over for Matthew Vaughn, and the surviving original cast are all back, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kick-Ass, Chloë  Grace Moretz as Hit Girl, Lyndsy Fonseca as Katie and Chistopher Mintz-Plasse as the Red Mist Motherf—er.  Jim Carrey leads the new cast, playing Colonel Stars and Stripes.

Kick-Ass 2 opens Aug. 16.

Take a Quick Peek Inside THE WALKING DEAD’s Prison

And by “quick,” I mean “very brief,” as in just a few seconds. Now that it’s September, AMC wants you to think “October” and its creepfest, THE WALKING DEAD, which premieres Oct. 14. To that end, the basic cable net has released to brief teasers — one of which, surprisingly, featured a clip from… er, last season. Here’s the teaser with new footage:

The clip of new footage delves into West Central Prison, as Rick (Andrew Lincoln) leads his ragtag band of survivors in search of a new haven. However brief, the video does give us a feel for the type of atmosphere the show’s producers are going for: claustrophobic and menacing. I can easily imagine what it’s like to be inside that “abandoned” facility: dark, humid and smelly. It’s probably the worst indoor space Rick and party have been. But if they can clear it of walkers, a secured prison would make a perfect base of operations; built to keep people in, it can easily be converted to keeping new walkers out.
