Don’t laugh; it’s no small thing that the lead character’s onscreen costume will resemble what he wears for his four-color adventures in print every month — just ask the X-Men!
Star Ryan Reynolds unveiled his latest superhero threads — remember the atrocity that was his Green Lantern costume (and movie)? — this morning by aping a famous Burt Reynolds pose.
Of course a character that I despise gets a great costume…
The first image of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has surfaced in Entertainment Weekly, and it’s just what we expected: Lex is shaved bald and he’s glowering at the camera.
So, there’s nothing new, aside from his age.
Or is there?
Director Zack Snyder claims his version of Lex is an all-new character, telling EW:
He’s not any of the Lexes that you’ve seen, that’s for sure, other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself. And bald, of course… Our Lex is disarming, and he’s not fake. He says what he believes and he says what’s on his mind. If you can unravel the string and decipher what he means, it’s all there.
BvS:DoJ opens March 25, 2016.
This is just a bit of visual tomfoolery for those of us in the USA, because The Doctor Who Experience is way over in Blighty, but the exhibition has a new show biginning this Easter featuring Peter Capaldi in a spot of bother with the desktops in the TARDIS console room.
I love seeing grumpy 12 say: “I do miss proper buttons; everything’s so swipe-y these days!”
As the magic day — the first of May — approaches, the promotion onslaught for Avengers: Age of Ultron will begin in earnest. But for a film that looks like this much fun, I don’t think anyone is going to mind! Just watch the third TV commercial:
Did you catch the first clear, full-face shot of the Vision right there at the end, or did you blink? He’s the red-faced guy.
As a public service, here are the first and second TV spots, and the amazing full-length movie trailer.
The second full-length trailer for season five of HBO’s GAME OF THRONES looks to feature more than enough action to satisfy viewers. Check it out!
Oh, so that’s what Dany was talking about when she mentioned she’s going to “break the wheel” in the other clip! Now it all makes sense!
The new season of GOT premieres April 12.
Perhaps the most significant addition in season five of GAME OF THRONES will be the Sand Snakes, the bastard daughters of Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne, three half-sisters looking to avenge their father’s death at the hands of the Mountain last season.
Marvel Studios has already released solo posters highlighting the core members of the Avengers, and now Marvel UK’s Twitter unleashed the official posters spotlighting the newcomers to Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson).
We see the Witch displaying a bit of her hex power and Quicksilver frozen in mid-stride.
Will the mysterious siblings be friends or foes to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?
Fans of the comics know how this story played out in four colors, but will director Joss Whedon throw us a curveball? The origin of the twins has already been changed, and they are being introduced to the Avengers in an entirely new way, so who know what will happen?
Avengers: Age of Ultron premieres on May 1.
DC Comics simply cannot leave bad enough alone. The Powers That Be are simply compelled to keep making things worse.
Now, in a mind-boggling move, Superman has been given back the silly T-shirt and jeans he was forced to wear when the failed “New 52” started, and Wonder Woman has… well, it’s hard to tell what’s new with her latest get-up, since her look has been changing so much lately. Let’s just settle for saying it’s as bad as the first time they put pants on her.
Not as bad as Superman’s crappy duds, but still.
And let’s not even start on the Man of Steel’s haircut.
Actress Helena Bonham Carter cozied up with an endangered bigeye tuna to promote the creation of marine reserves in the UK Overseas Territories.
“I am a big supporter of protecting the marine environment,” Carter said of the Fishlove campaign promoting the Blue Marine Foundation, which raises awareness of “the unsustainable fishing practices that are destroying the earth’s marine ecosystem.” And it’s not just fish; the reserves would help whales, turtles, seabirds, penguins and corals.
“I’m actually very phobic about fish, so when Greta [Scacchi] asked me to be photographed naked with a 27kg tuna I was more worried about touching it than getting my kit off. Having said that, I conquered my fears and by the end of the morning we’d truly bonded.”
The third Captain America “solo” movie, Captain America: Civil War, is beginning to look like an Avengers reunion — especially with confirmation that Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) has joined the cast.
Of course Chris Evans is back as Captain America, and Renner/Hawkeye joins the already announced Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, as well as Frank Grillo returning from Captain America: The Winter Soldier as rejuvenated baddie Brock Lumlow, now known officially as Crossbones.
In addition, Chadwick Boseman will debut as Black Panther, Daniel Bruhl will be making his first appearance as villain Baron Zemo — and then there’s the widespread anticipation that Marvel’s new Spider-Man will appear!
