The first official image of Peter Capaldi filming series eight of DOCTOR WHO — a clearly staged publicity photo with co-star Jenna Coleman — was released Today by the BBC, proving that work has begun on the new season in Cardiff, Wales, at last.
“New job, first day, slightly nervous,” the BBC quoted Capaldi as saying. “Just like the Doctor, I’m emerging from the TARDIS into a whole other world.”
Executive producer Steven Moffat teased: “First the eyebrows! Then, at Christmas, the face! Coming soon, the whole Doctor. In the Cardiff studios, the Capaldi era begins.”
Since the 12th Doctor is clearly still wearing the 11th Doctor’s costume, this shot must have been taken during the production of the first story, before the new Doctor has chosen his own outfit.
Joining the new Doctor will be a trio of familiar faces — but you’ll have to follow the jump to see who they are. SPOILERS!
Steve Rogers and his heroic alter ego, Captain America, will be seen struggling to adapt to the 21st century in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
It seems that Cap didn’t have time for much angst in The Avengers, so his reflection time will come in this sequel.
Chris Evans talked to Empire magazine about Steve/Cap’s soul-searching:
“In The Avengers we had so many characters you have to address, you don’t really have time to sit with any single one. In this movie there’s a lot going on for Steve. He’s trying to acclimatize to the modern world. I don’t want to give too much away, but it’s about trying to find how he fits. He’s a man from the 1940s. He’s just woken up. For everybody else, it’s been a slow burn to get to where we are in 2014. But for him, suddenly there’s the internet, cellphones and The Patriot Act. The technology’s new to him and so is the access the government has to that technology.
