The 12th Doctor may be materializing on TV screens here in the USA and Britain when the new season of DOCTOR WHO premieres on Aug. 23, but stars Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman (Clara) will be the feature attractions of a globe-spanning publicity tour that kicks off Aug. 7 in Cardiff, Wales, and stops in New York on Aug. 14.
The five-continent, seven-city, 12-day tour will see executive producer and lead writer Steven Moffat pop up at select stops and also include London; Seoul, South Korea; Sydney, Mexico City; and Rio de Janeiro.
At first glance, turning Terry Gilliam‘s brilliant time-travel brain-twister 12 Monkeys into a weekly TV series seems… well, crazy. But after watching the first trailer for the forthcoming SyFy show, I think it’s… well, not as crazy as I used to.
Clearly they had to make changes to the storyline, and I’m not sure I agree with them — like having Dr. Railly give Cole the mission to travel into the past, and introducing a new potential Big Bad in Zeljko Ivanek‘s Leland. It’s not clear if this James Cole will meet a wacky Jeffrey Goines.
The movie starred Bruce Willis, Madeleine Stowe and Brad Pitt — who earned an Oscar nomination as Goines. The series will star X2: X-Men United’s Aaron Stanford in the Willis role and Suits’ Amanda Schull taking over for Stowe’s psychiatrist.
At least the 13-episode 12 MONKEYS gives us something to look forward to this January.
