After focusing on Star-Lord’s relationship with his late mother in the first film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 tackles Peter Quill’s missing father — who turns out to be Ego, played by screen legend Kurt Russell!
There’s a lot more to the story of Peter’s long-lost Dad than just who he is; readers of Marvel Comics know that when it comes to Ego the Living Planet, what he is poses a much… uh, bigger question.
Director James Gunn decided to change the identity of Star-Lord’s father from the comics, and hopefully we’ll see just why when the movie opens, but it’s worth noting that Russell‘s costume makes him look just like J’son, the emperor of Spartax, who was Peter’s dad in the comics. Hmmmm…
Anyway, check out the trailer, which is packed with action, bright colors and quick quips, which is just what we want from this sequel:
BOY MEETS WORLD’s Will Friedle has been tapped to lend his voice to Star-Lord in the upcoming Marvel animated series GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY on Disney X D.
Chris Pratt personified Peter Quill’s nom de crime in last summer’s live-action blockbuster Marvel movie, and will reprise the role in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but not in the animated series.
Friedle will be joined by Kevin Michael Richardson as the voice of Groot, Trevor Devall as the voice of Rocket Raccoon, Vanessa Marshall as Gamora, David Sobolov as Drax, and James Arnold Taylor will voice two characters: Yondu and Cosmo.
Even though the folks at Screen Junkies admit, “We’re really reaching here, this was a fun movie,” this Honest Trailer does a pretty good job making fun of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, he year’s top-grossing movie.
Sure, most of the jabs rely on the relative obscurity of the characters, but it’s still fun!
“I am Groot!”
The second official trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. ‘Nuff said.
Today we get to see a new poster for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, but tomorrow a new trailer is set to drop!
This poster is pretty action-packed and uses good likenesses of Chris Pratt as Star-Lord and Zoe Saldana as Gamora.
Based on the first one, I’m really looking forward to this new trailer…
Because I’m having a hard time resisting anything to do with James Gunn‘s upcoming adaptation of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, here are three new images from what promises to be a bat-shit crazy movie! (We should be so lucky!)
Here we see Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord wearing his mask and running on the set, plus Peter dealing with Gamora, as played by Zoe Saldana. And then there’s all the self-described Guardians in prison jumpsuits: Quill and Gamora flanking Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Drax the Destroyer, played by Dave Bautista.
Director Gunn recently doled out a bit of info about Peter Quill’s origin in the movie, as well as Gamora and Nebula:
“He was abducted from Earth (Missouri) at age eight and raised in a group of thieves and smugglers called the Ravagers. He’s good with the ladies and a little bit of a d**k and very lucky. Thanos slaughtered [Gamora’s] family and Nebula’s, then raised them together as siblings. They were bioengineered to become living weapons, so he’s really good at killing people.”
Let the GotG insanity begin on Aug. 1!
Looks like director James Gunn decided to go for broke with Guardians of the Galaxy and do something different. Instead of making yet another epic “Marvel movie,” he decided to make a James Gunn film instead! After watching this trailer, my first impression is that he made the right choice.
This is the work of the guy who wrote and directed Slither; this is the work of the guy who wrote and directed Super. I like it.
You might miss former DOCTOR WHO companion Karen Gillan debuting her look as baddie Nebula. Look for her at about the 1:57 mark; she’s the blue chick deploying blades in each hand. She’s in the trailer for literally one second.
