Marvel’s forthcoming Netflix series A.K.A. JESSICA JONES is expanding the cast again, this time announcing the hiring of Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty and Will Traval, according to The Wrap.
Darville (THE ORIGINALS) will play Malcolm, a neighbor of Jessica who finds his life tangling with hers in “a surprising way.” (This could possibly be the same Malcolm depicted in the comic book series Alias as a Jessica Jones fanboy.)
Moriarty (THE KINGS OF SUMMER) will portray Hope, “a young girl who becomes a client of Alias Investigations.”
Traval (who co-starred with Moriarty in RED WINDOW) plays a tough New York cop.
Krysten Ritter stars as the titular superhero-turned-private investigator in the 13-episode initial season which will debut sometime later this year.
Krysten Ritter has begun filming the title role in A.K.A. JESSICA JONES, the Netflix series based on the Marvel comic book Alias, which is set to debut later this year.
Since Jessica is a retired superheroine, the street clothes the former BREAKING BAD actress wears pretty much constitute her “costume.” She seems to have the right look to me, and it certainly looks like the series will be true to the comic, which was notable for its street-level grit.
And in more good news, Carrie-Anne Moss, of The Matrix fame, is joining the cast as an original character named Harper. She is “a person in a position of authority who could prove a powerful ally to Jessica — if the titular character doesn’t completely alienate her first, that is,” according to The Wrap.
When MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for its second season premiere on Sept. 23, there will plenty of new faces helping to rebuild the shattered agency — or tear it right back down again!
Chief among the new allies is former XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS star Lucy Lawless as Agent Isabelle Hartley, a veteran S.H.I.E.L.D. agent helping to rebuild the organization.
TRUE BLOOD actress Deborah Ann Woll will play Karen Page, the female lead in Marvel Television and Netflix’s upcoming Daredevil series. Karen is the longtime love interest of Matt Murdock/Daredevil, and appeared in the very first issue of the comic book, back in 1964.
Karen was killed in the comics in 1999, but Woll’s character will be a new, cinematic version.
Daredevil stars Charlie Cox (BOARDWALK EMPIRE) as Matt Murdock/Daredevil; Elden Henson (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1) as Foggy Nelson; Vincent D’Onofrio (Full Metal Jacket) as Kingpin, and Rosario Dawson (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For) in an undisclosed role (Elektra?).
