First Official ‘Age of Ultron’ Set Pic Is… um… er…

downeymanRobert “Iron Man” Downey Jr. Tweeted out his first official pic from the set of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and it is… well, not exactly action-packed.

The image shows RDJ in a yellow reflective vest, standing next to executive producer Jeremy Latcham.

Well… perhaps that purple jacket Downey is wearing is part of his Tony Stark costume?

What is Bettany’s Vision for the Avengers’ Vision?

visionNow that we’ve all had time to ruminate on the addition of the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver to Avengers: Age of Ultron for better (Wanda) or worse (Pietro), what about that other new Avenger, the Vision?

The red-skinned android synthezoid is familiar to fans of the comic book, but he may come as a shock to moviegoers — especially if he is created as a weapon by Ultron to destroy Earth’s Mightiest Heroes but falls in love with Wanda, as he did in the comics!

Paul Bettany — known until now as the voice of Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) artificial intelligence J.A.R.V.I.S. — will play the artificial lifeform in the movie, and he went on Jimmy Kimmel Live last week to not really say anything tease his role:

“Oh, I can do all sorts of things [as the Vision], but I’m not allowed to really talk about them and what we’re going to do, because there might be a Marvel agent in the room who will actually wrestle me to the ground and fire me…. It’s very exciting for me, but everything is a double-edged sword, right? Because I was playing J.A.R.V.I.S. for years, and my job was, I would turn up at a recording studio for 45 minutes, do all my stuff, and then they would give me a huge bag of cash and then I’d go home. Now it turns out they’ve found me out and they want me to actually do something!”

In the comics, the Vision’s coolest power by far is the ability to render himself immaterial and then plunge a hand into a person or machine and solidify, thereby disrupting that person or machine, rendering him/it unconscious/inert. It’s the kind of thing that could look really great onscreen.

A Fun Peek at ‘Guardians’ Fight Rehearsal

zoekarenDon’t panic. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is doing some reshoots — and even though the movie is due Aug. 1, this is not a sign that anything is wrong with James Gunn’s cosmic romp. In fact, it could be seen as a good thing. A very good thing.

Apparently, Marvel Studios wants to add to the movie, not take stuff out. More is good. And one of the things it wants more of is a big catfight girlfight fight between Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Nebula (Karen Gillan).

Saldana Tweeted this photo from the set and captioned it:

“@KarenGillan2 and I rehearsing our extended fight scene! Gamora and Nebula are gonna kick each other’s butts!”

Please, please, please let this “extended” fight sequence take up about… oh, 15 minutes or so. Is that asking too much?

Six Stylized ‘Winter Soldier’ Poster Designs

ComingSoon.Net had unveiled six stylized character posters for the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Based on previously released designs, these new versions feature a powerful deep red color motif. To me they resemble a mashup of Cap and Sin City. The actual posters themselves can be seen in person at the Hollywood Arclight if you happen to be in Los Angeles.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens Aril 4.
