‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Promo Images

Here is a bunch of hero and villain images from X-Men: Days of Future Past, which opens tomorrow:

First Official ‘Age of Ultron’ Set Pic Is… um… er…

downeymanRobert “Iron Man” Downey Jr. Tweeted out his first official pic from the set of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and it is… well, not exactly action-packed.

The image shows RDJ in a yellow reflective vest, standing next to executive producer Jeremy Latcham.

Well… perhaps that purple jacket Downey is wearing is part of his Tony Stark costume?

What is Bettany’s Vision for the Avengers’ Vision?

visionNow that we’ve all had time to ruminate on the addition of the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver to Avengers: Age of Ultron for better (Wanda) or worse (Pietro), what about that other new Avenger, the Vision?

The red-skinned android synthezoid is familiar to fans of the comic book, but he may come as a shock to moviegoers — especially if he is created as a weapon by Ultron to destroy Earth’s Mightiest Heroes but falls in love with Wanda, as he did in the comics!

Paul Bettany — known until now as the voice of Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) artificial intelligence J.A.R.V.I.S. — will play the artificial lifeform in the movie, and he went on Jimmy Kimmel Live last week to not really say anything tease his role:

“Oh, I can do all sorts of things [as the Vision], but I’m not allowed to really talk about them and what we’re going to do, because there might be a Marvel agent in the room who will actually wrestle me to the ground and fire me…. It’s very exciting for me, but everything is a double-edged sword, right? Because I was playing J.A.R.V.I.S. for years, and my job was, I would turn up at a recording studio for 45 minutes, do all my stuff, and then they would give me a huge bag of cash and then I’d go home. Now it turns out they’ve found me out and they want me to actually do something!”

In the comics, the Vision’s coolest power by far is the ability to render himself immaterial and then plunge a hand into a person or machine and solidify, thereby disrupting that person or machine, rendering him/it unconscious/inert. It’s the kind of thing that could look really great onscreen.

A Fun Peek at ‘Guardians’ Fight Rehearsal

zoekarenDon’t panic. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is doing some reshoots — and even though the movie is due Aug. 1, this is not a sign that anything is wrong with James Gunn’s cosmic romp. In fact, it could be seen as a good thing. A very good thing.

Apparently, Marvel Studios wants to add to the movie, not take stuff out. More is good. And one of the things it wants more of is a big catfight girlfight fight between Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Nebula (Karen Gillan).

Saldana Tweeted this photo from the set and captioned it:

“@KarenGillan2 and I rehearsing our extended fight scene! Gamora and Nebula are gonna kick each other’s butts!”

Please, please, please let this “extended” fight sequence take up about… oh, 15 minutes or so. Is that asking too much?

Six Stylized ‘Winter Soldier’ Poster Designs

ComingSoon.Net had unveiled six stylized character posters for the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Based on previously released designs, these new versions feature a powerful deep red color motif. To me they resemble a mashup of Cap and Sin City. The actual posters themselves can be seen in person at the Hollywood Arclight if you happen to be in Los Angeles.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens Aril 4.

Chris Hemsworth Praises Joss and ‘Avengers’ Sequel Script

thorhamavsThe mighty Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, told the Wizard World Sacramento (Calif.) Comic Con over the weekend that he’s ready to pick up the hammer for his fourth sortie as the Norse god of thunder in Avengers: Age of Ultron — which will be truly massive in scope thanks to writer/director Joss Whedon.

“I’m really excited to start Avengers 2 in two months and get back on set. We’re going to meet in London and shoot there for four months, so I’m excited to get back together with everyone and catch up.

“Everything is ramped up. It kind of blew me away, reading [it]. I don’t know how Joss does it, but everyone has gone up another notch, and the whole thing is bigger and more exciting and crazier. Yeah, he’s a genius.”

Avengers: Age of Ultron is slated to open May 1, 2015.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Trailer Aims for Funny Bone

Looks like director James Gunn decided to go for broke with Guardians of the Galaxy and do something different. Instead of making yet another epic “Marvel movie,” he decided to make a James Gunn film instead! After watching this trailer, my first impression is that he made the right choice.

This is the work of the guy who wrote and directed Slither; this is the work of the guy who wrote and directed Super. I like it.

You might miss former DOCTOR WHO companion Karen Gillan debuting her look as baddie Nebula. Look for her at about the 1:57 mark; she’s the blue chick deploying blades in each hand. She’s in the trailer for literally one second.

Elizabeth Olsen Teases Scarlet Witch’s Wardrobe

?????????????????????????????????After Elizabeth Olsen was cast as the Scarlet Witch for Avengers: Age of Ultron, fans know Wanda Maximoff is in the competent hands of a beautiful and talented actress, so only one question remains: What will she wear?

The Witch has had one primary costume for decades, and that has been changed up and reworked in more recent times, but whenever you say “Scarlet Witch” to a true comics fan, only one image comes to mind: her classic “red swimsuit over red mesh” uniform.

However, following the trend of the Marvel movies to redesign characters’ outfits — even Captain America and Iron Man were tweaked for the big screen — director Joss Whedon is giving the Witch another makeover.
