Extended ‘Guardians’ Trailer Brings the Action

Yeah, by now, you know what you’re gettin’ into with any new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer…

Aug. 1. ‘Nuff said.

Look, yonder – It’s Yondu!

yondu1Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has unveiled the first official image of Yondu, played by THE WALKING DEAD’s ex-Merle, Michael Rooker.

Sure, the image is a bit dark, but trust me, the guy has blue skin.

Gunn had this to say about the character and the actor on his Facebook page:

#gotgpicoftheday Michael Rooker onset as Yondu. You’ll be seeing more of him soon. Yondu was not in the original script. I added him and wrote the role specifically for Rooker. I wasn’t sure Marvel was going to go for either idea, so I was relieved when they responded enthusiastically to both.

Another Face-Melting TV Spot for ‘Guardians’

Whatever happens on Aug. 1, you won’t be able to say that Marvel’s marketing machine didn’t do its level best to get you into a theater to watch James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy. The teasers and various trailers have been phenomenally entertaining and really showcase the comic/serious tone of the movie. To wit, the latest entry:

How could you not want to see GotG after watching that? Is there another movie that can sell itself with The RunawaysCherry Bomb?

New ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ UK Trailer

The second international trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has dropped, and it does the best job yet of sketching out the premise of the movie — while still making it look like more fun than we have any right to expect!

I’m at the point now where I’m starting to worry just a little bit: Can the movie possibly be as fantastic as it looks? (For example, as it appears in this “Spirit in the Sky” trailer.) Can our wishes come true a second time this year? (Captain America: The Winter Soldier was everything I’d hoped for and more!) Director James Gunn has been very reliable so far…

Let’s hope this movie lives up to the tag line, “You’re welcome.”

GotG’s Ronan the Accuser Revealed!

ronanJames Gunn, director of Marvel’s Next Big Thing, the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, posted the first clear image of Ronan the Accuser, the Big Bad antagonist of the movie, on his Twitter today.

Ronan (played by Lee Pace) is a badass member of the Kree race, and he’s known for carrying a big… hammer-thingy… which he appears to be pointing toward us in this photo. You can find this, accompanied by Gunn’s witty caption, here, on his official Twitter feed.

GotG opens Aug. 1 here in the USA.

A Fun Peek at ‘Guardians’ Fight Rehearsal

zoekarenDon’t panic. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is doing some reshoots — and even though the movie is due Aug. 1, this is not a sign that anything is wrong with James Gunn’s cosmic romp. In fact, it could be seen as a good thing. A very good thing.

Apparently, Marvel Studios wants to add to the movie, not take stuff out. More is good. And one of the things it wants more of is a big catfight girlfight fight between Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Nebula (Karen Gillan).

Saldana Tweeted this photo from the set and captioned it:

“@KarenGillan2 and I rehearsing our extended fight scene! Gamora and Nebula are gonna kick each other’s butts!”

Please, please, please let this “extended” fight sequence take up about… oh, 15 minutes or so. Is that asking too much?
