The third Captain America “solo” movie, Captain America: Civil War, is beginning to look like an Avengers reunion — especially with confirmation that Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) has joined the cast.
Of course Chris Evans is back as Captain America, and Renner/Hawkeye joins the already announced Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, as well as Frank Grillo returning from Captain America: The Winter Soldier as rejuvenated baddie Brock Lumlow, now known officially as Crossbones.
In addition, Chadwick Boseman will debut as Black Panther, Daniel Bruhl will be making his first appearance as villain Baron Zemo — and then there’s the widespread anticipation that Marvel’s new Spider-Man will appear!
Thanks to news photo service Getty Images, we now have a boatload of photos depicting the Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Hawkeye in action as part of location filming in Aosta, Italy, on March 24. There are a lot of images, so I’ll break them up into galleries.
First, Scarlet Witch (played by Elizabeth Olsen) seems to be using her probability-altering hex power to conjure some sort of spell — doubtless there will be CGI elements inserted in post-production. Her costume may be nothing like its comic book version, but I still like it a lot.
The good folks over at Blastr located something very interesting: A clever infographic that explains who owns the rights to make movies about which Marvel characters. Check it out.
I didn’t know (or maybe I forgot) that Lionsgate (The Hunger Games studio) owns Man-Thing.
Now this is how you sell a movie with still photos! (And this isn’t.) Joss Whedon’s The Avengers kicks off the summer blockbuster season on May 4, so lot of teaser images are being released to get fans stoked — and it’s working! (Disney’s John Carter marketers should take notes!)
Don’t mess with the best: Avengers Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Captain America (Chris Evans) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) look determined to kick some butt. I wouldn’t want to be Loki (Tom Hiddleston) or his mysterious minions (*cough*FrostGiants*cough*)!
I wonder what the balance of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes — Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), not to mention Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and the rest of S.H.I.E.L.D. — are up to while this trio is on the move.
