Even though the folks at Screen Junkies admit, “We’re really reaching here, this was a fun movie,” this Honest Trailer does a pretty good job making fun of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, he year’s top-grossing movie.
Sure, most of the jabs rely on the relative obscurity of the characters, but it’s still fun!
“I am Groot!”
Instead of making a plan, the Guardians pick a fight. With each other.
It’s not long now until the Aug. 1 opening.
The second official trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. ‘Nuff said.
Today we get to see a new poster for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, but tomorrow a new trailer is set to drop!
This poster is pretty action-packed and uses good likenesses of Chris Pratt as Star-Lord and Zoe Saldana as Gamora.
Based on the first one, I’m really looking forward to this new trailer…
Because I’m having a hard time resisting anything to do with James Gunn‘s upcoming adaptation of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, here are three new images from what promises to be a bat-shit crazy movie! (We should be so lucky!)
Here we see Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord wearing his mask and running on the set, plus Peter dealing with Gamora, as played by Zoe Saldana. And then there’s all the self-described Guardians in prison jumpsuits: Quill and Gamora flanking Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Drax the Destroyer, played by Dave Bautista.
Director Gunn recently doled out a bit of info about Peter Quill’s origin in the movie, as well as Gamora and Nebula:
“He was abducted from Earth (Missouri) at age eight and raised in a group of thieves and smugglers called the Ravagers. He’s good with the ladies and a little bit of a d**k and very lucky. Thanos slaughtered [Gamora’s] family and Nebula’s, then raised them together as siblings. They were bioengineered to become living weapons, so he’s really good at killing people.”
Let the GotG insanity begin on Aug. 1!
Don’t panic. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is doing some reshoots — and even though the movie is due Aug. 1, this is not a sign that anything is wrong with James Gunn’s cosmic romp. In fact, it could be seen as a good thing. A very good thing.
Apparently, Marvel Studios wants to add to the movie, not take stuff out. More is good. And one of the things it wants more of is a big
catfight girlfight fight between Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Nebula (Karen Gillan).
Saldana Tweeted this photo from the set and captioned it:
“@KarenGillan2 and I rehearsing our extended fight scene! Gamora and Nebula are gonna kick each other’s butts!”
Please, please, please let this “extended” fight sequence take up about… oh, 15 minutes or so. Is that asking too much?
Marvel Studios released what it’s calling the first official photo of the title characters from James Gunn’s upcoming would-be summer blockbuster, Guardians of the Galaxy — and the (mostly) live-action image is almost identical to pre-production artwork that was released quite a while ago: The ragtag team captured by the interstellar police force, the Nova Corps.
The characters all look pretty good, and using the police lineup theme instantly makes one think of the classic caper movie The Usual Suspects, and suggests that these Guardians are supposed to be similarly likeable rogues. Only with a raccoon. And a tree.
I’m not happy that Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) isn’t wearing his Star-Lord uniform (any of the numerous versions would have done), but of course Gamora (Zoe Salanda) and Drax (Dave Bautista) could not wear their highly impractical comic book uniforms onscreen.
The headline should read: “Good Girl Goes Bad!”
After playing Amy Pond, the best friend of the 11th Doctor for nearly 2 1/2 years on DOCTOR WHO, Karen Gillan has been seduced by the Dark Side! She will play the lead villainess in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy film.
Karen’s character is unknown, because the script is being kept tightly under wraps; only wisps of details have leaked out. The film was also being cast very slowly, although now the ranks are filling in more quickly. We know, for instance, that Lee Pace (PUSHING DAISIES) has been cast as the Big Bad… but not the character’s name.
Rumor has it Pace is playing the Collector — which is a very interesting choice, because it would fit in perfectly with the rumored overall plan Marvel has for its movies. The Collector is linked to Korvac/Michael, one of the greatest storylines from the Avengers comic book series, and that tale dovetails with Thanos — the master villain Avengers director Joss Whedon is “saving” for Avengers 3. (Yes, that’s right, Avengers 3, not the upcoming Avengers 2.)
Anyway, the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast includes Chris Pratt as Starlord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, and Michael Rooker and Glenn Close in undisclosed roles.
Trust director/screenwriter James Gunn (Super and cult fave Slither) to get his ducks in a row soon, as filming is scheduled to get under way later this month for release on Aug. 1, 2014.
And I, for one, welcome our new alien
Zoë Saldana took some out from promoting Star Trek Into Darkness to offer up a few words about her next potential deep-space franchise, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, in which she will play a green-skinned assassin called Gamora. (Assuming the character follows the lead of the comic book, that is…)
About the movie and her character, Zoë said:
“It feels unique, but it doesn’t feel like it hasn’t been done before. I love the levity in the script and I like the casting of it. I’ve been a fan of Chris Pratt and I think that his gifted, natural comedic timing might come in handy to play someone like Star-Lord.
“I’m in the process right now of the evolution of conceiving Gamora’s look. It’s exciting! We’re trying to work out comfort also because, you know that I definitely want to be involved in the stunt-doing of my character.”
Guardians of the Galaxy is set to be released on Aug. 1, 2014.
