Marvel Studios has already released solo posters highlighting the core members of the Avengers, and now Marvel UK’s Twitter unleashed the official posters spotlighting the newcomers to Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson).
We see the Witch displaying a bit of her hex power and Quicksilver frozen in mid-stride.
Will the mysterious siblings be friends or foes to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?
Fans of the comics know how this story played out in four colors, but will director Joss Whedon throw us a curveball? The origin of the twins has already been changed, and they are being introduced to the Avengers in an entirely new way, so who know what will happen?
Avengers: Age of Ultron premieres on May 1.
Strangely enough, the movie Fifty Shades of Grey, — which is definitely not for children despite the juvenile writing of its source material — has a connection to the comic book world: Director Sam Taylor-Johnson is married to actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, best-known for playing the title role in the two Kick-Ass movies and soon to become quite a bit more famous for portraying Quicksilver in this summer’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Sam is well-respected photographer in the world of fine arts, where she has been nominated for such prestigious awards as Britain’s Turner Prize. Back when she was an artist known as Sam Taylor-Wood, she recreated the Last Supper with Jesus reimagined as a topless woman. And her “Crying Men” portraits of Robin Williams, Sean Penn, Paul Newman, Laurence Fishburne and Dustin Hoffman depicted the Hollywood stars… well, crying.
Could this new international trailer for Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla be any more awesome?
The answer is no. No, it could not.
With an amazing cast led by Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, Aaron Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen, I’m hoping the story is as fantastic as the visuals.
Hang in there, folks — May 16 is less than a month away…
I really enjoyed this new TV commercial for the upcoming Godzilla reboot. There’s a lot of drama and tension in what goes unspoken between the characters. You will believe this is happening.
In this movie, Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are married — unlike the characters they play when they co-star in next year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, who are brother and sister.
Thanks to news photo service Getty Images, we now have a boatload of photos depicting the Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Hawkeye in action as part of location filming in Aosta, Italy, on March 24. There are a lot of images, so I’ll break them up into galleries.
First, Scarlet Witch (played by Elizabeth Olsen) seems to be using her probability-altering hex power to conjure some sort of spell — doubtless there will be CGI elements inserted in post-production. Her costume may be nothing like its comic book version, but I still like it a lot.
It’s here! The first official full trailer for Gareth Edwards‘ Godzilla, which will be released on May 16.
Watch it, now! Do not wait; do not pass GO; do not collect $200 — just watch this amazing, majestic, awe-inducing trailer!
It’s nice (but weird) to see Bryan Cranston in something other than BREAKING BAD, isn’t it? Too bad there’s only a one-second flash of Elizabeth Olsen, but Aaron (Kick-Ass) Taylor-Johnson gets a good line in. And once again we hear the King of Monsters’ rumbling roar, just as released yesterday.
Hopefully you’re aware that a new version of Godzilla is being made by director Gareth Edwards (starring Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston and Aaron Taylor-Johnson). It opens May 16, and a very low-key advertising campaign has been gradually ramping up.
The newest bit of promo material is a bit of a surprise to me: The studio has released an audio recording of Godzilla’s roar! Just as his look has been redesigned, so has his signature roar. Have a listen to this 12-second clip, but keep in mind that the first 10 seconds is Godzilla getting angry before unleashing his new roar:
Marvel Studios has confirmed that Elizabeth Olsen is joining the cast of Avengers: Age of Ultron as the Scarlet Witch. The Witch’s twin brother, Quicksilver, will be played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson — better known to comics fans as homemade hero Dave Lizewski of Kick-Ass.
In an interesting bit of serendipity, Olsen and Johnson play husband-and-wife in the upcoming Godzilla reboot, but they figure to spend more time sharing scenes as superpowered siblings in Joss Whedon’s sequel to the third-highest-grossing film of all time. Pietro is known for being… er, enthusiastically protective of sister Wanda.
Well, that took long enough! After months of wrangling, Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has finally been signed to play Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The move reunites him with Elizabeth Olsen — his co-star in the forthcoming Godzilla reboot — who will play his sister, the Scarlet Witch.
The only remaining mystery about the superfast mutant Quicksilver is what he will look like. Johnson told Total Film:
“That’s what we’re in talks about, really, right now — how I could become that character and not feel forced. I might not look right with white hair, and the accent may be wrong… It just doesn’t work like that.”
Just in case you’ve forgotten — or, worse (gasp) — didn’t know, Kick-Ass 2 hits theaters today, and the clever the Kick-Ass 2 Avatar Creator lets you generate an avatar that would fit right in with the world of Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl.
I whipped up a little character I dubbed “Doctor Painless” to join the fight with Justice Forever and kick evil’s ass. Jump over to the Kick-Ass 2 Avatar Creator and suit up.
I wonder if these creations would be acceptable at screenings of the movie? Probably yes — but without the weapons.
