Some sneaky set photos from filming the eighth series of DOCTOR WHO have given us a close look at the 12th Doctor (Peter Capaldi) wearing a different costume — a long lab coat with pens in the breast pocket (probably a disguise) — and using what has been described as a new sonic screwdriver, although the close-up image shows it to be essentially identical to one used by his 11th incarnation. And then there’s that new monster, which looks to me like a giant mechanical owl!
The only difference I can (almost) perceive in the sonic is that it may be all gold in color instead of having a silver cylinder — but that can be put down to the low lighting of the photos.
As for the new monster, it’s being referred to as an alien, and I’m going to call it the Owlbot until someone tells me different — or I think up a better name. (But, seriously, I’m not gonna improve on Owlbot. Who could?)
Filming for Avengers: Age of Ultron has moved to Seoul, South Korea, and director Joss Whedon posted a message to the locals, apologizing in advance for turning the place into a superhero battleground.
Elsewhere, some enterprising paparazzo with a good lens shot these images of the Ultron stand-in on the set. I call it a stand-in because the character looks so silly, the armor strapped over a heavy winter coat. There is no way the Big Bad is going to look this ridiculous on the big screen. Obviously, there will be at least some CGI involved in conjuring the real Ultron.
Still, I think it’s fun to see what the actors are working with; imagine you are Chris Hemsworth and you have to deliver your epic Thor lines to this guy!
Is this a Nimon I see before me?
Not only were lead actors Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman spotted shooting a series eight story for DOCTOR WHO on location in a park, they were shooting with a monster of unfamiliar design that many folks on the interwebs are suggesting could be a redesigned Nimon! Judge for yourself:
Thanks to news photo service Getty Images, we now have a boatload of photos depicting the Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Hawkeye in action as part of location filming in Aosta, Italy, on March 24. There are a lot of images, so I’ll break them up into galleries.
First, Scarlet Witch (played by Elizabeth Olsen) seems to be using her probability-altering hex power to conjure some sort of spell — doubtless there will be CGI elements inserted in post-production. Her costume may be nothing like its comic book version, but I still like it a lot.
All right, so maybe you can safely blink when looking at these stills from the newest TV iteration of DC Comics’ scarlet speedster — but I’ll bet he looks a lot quicker when this sequence actually airs on The CW’s THE FLASH.
BleedingCool snagged a bunch of pap shots of Grant Gustin (GLEE) in costume filming on location in Vancouver for the upcoming TV series.
Also, here is Gustin actually captured in motion on the set:
To be fair, he’s just warming up and rehearsing his moves, but still — it’s funny to imagine Barry Allen is pretending to move like the Bionic Man! LOL.
Anyone who might still be wondering if DOCTOR WHO is in the right hands for series eight can breathe a sigh of relief, because 12th Doctor Peter Capaldi has just demonstrated that he is worthy of the mantle by reassuring a young fan worried about the changeover.
On location, Peter was introduced to a young autistic girl in a Dalek costume who was concerned about losing Matt Smith. Peter gently explained that Matt (and Jenna Coleman) had endorsed him, and put the little girl at ease:
“Matt was really nice to me, as Jenna was, too. They were both very welcoming to me when I came into the TARDIS. Matt said to me to look after DOCTOR WHO, and he gave me his watch and he said that in his own way he was happy that it was me that was coming in. So I will do my very best to be as much fun and as friendly as he is… I will be different. [Matt and Jenna] say it’s OK for me to be the Doctor. I hope that you think it would be OK for me to be the Doctor, too… I might be a bit noisy at first!”
The 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi, was spotted filming some scenes for his DOCTOR WHO series eight debut on misty Cardiff streets this past week.
The new Time Lord is known to be having an adventure in Victorian London, and in the scene captured here, the Doctor is wearing what appears to be a period nightshirt and riding a mechanical stunt horse. The second image is behind-the-scenes, where a crew member is tending to Capaldi’s hand.
