DOCTOR WHO ‘Twice Upon a Time’ Trailer

BBC America have unveiled a short-yet-thrilling trailer for the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas Special, “Twice Upon a Time,” which sees the 12th Doctor (Peter Capaldi) team up with the First Doctor (David Bradley) to solve a unique problem with Time freezing.

Oh, and they both are facing traumatic regenerations, one of which will result in the first female incarnation of the Doctor, as portrayed by Jodie Whittaker.



This story marks not only the end of Capaldi’s reign as the Doctor, but the close of the Steven Moffat era, as he is leaving his seven-year post as executive producer and lead writer of the series. HIs tenure  which began with Matt Smith‘s debut as the 11th Doctor. Moffat’s replacement, Chris Chibnall takes over as show runner to oversee his former BROADCHURCH star, Whittaker, in Season 11 next fall.

Here’s how the producers describe the story:

The magical final chapter of the Twelfth Doctor’s (Peter Capaldi) journey sees the Time Lord team up with his former self, the first ever Doctor (David Bradley – Harry Potter, Game of Thrones) and a returning Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie), for one last adventure.

Two Doctors stranded in an Arctic snowscape, refusing to face regeneration. Enchanted glass people, stealing their victims from frozen time. And a World War One captain destined to die on the battlefield, but taken from the trenches to play his part in the Doctor’s story.

An uplifting new tale about the power of hope in humanity’s darkest hours, Twice Upon A Time marks the end of an era. But as the Doctor must face his past to decide his future, his journey is only just beginning.

“Twice Upon a Time” premieres Dec. 25 at 9 p.m. on BBC America.
