Perhaps the most significant addition in season five of GAME OF THRONES will be the Sand Snakes, the bastard daughters of Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne, three half-sisters looking to avenge their father’s death at the hands of the Mountain last season.
The eldest is Obara (played by Keisha Castle-Hughes) who fights with a spear, just like dear old Dad; Nymeria (Jessica Henwick) who could teach Indiana Jones a few tricks with a bullwhip) and the baby, Tyene (Rosabell Laurenti Sellers), who doubles down with daggers.
Castle-Hughes told Entertainment Weekly:
We haven’t seen women like this on Game of Thrones before. You have lone wolves like Arya and Brienne, and others like Daenerys or Cersei, who are politically strong surrounded by men. But you haven’t seen women who are strong together and who collaborate – which is a dangerous thing. We’re three girls who are violent and manipulative who are thirsty for Lannister blood.
GAME OF THRONES premieres April 12 on HBO.
