Presenting His Royal Highness, Aquaman!

aquamomoaKing of the Seven Seas Aquaman made his first official public appearance on the interwebs yesterday, courtesy of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder, and I will say that while Jason Momoa does look pretty badass, he doesn’t look anything like Aquaman.

Which is not necessarily a bad thing, and certainly not unexpected — no one thought the orange-and-green color scheme from the comic books was going to be attempted onscreen, and everyone expected the director to toughen up the Atlantean royal’s look.

But I didn’t quite expect this. At first glance, Aquaman’s armored, black-and-white-and-silver look is pretty fierce, but does it actually make any sense? Are long dreadlocks and a bushy beard practical when fighting under the sea? Won’t all that floating hair obstruct his vision? Could his trident get tangled in his locks?

Snyder accompanied the image with the message, “There is only one true King. #unitetheseven.”

AquaMomoa joins Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and Flash (Ezra Miller) in BvS:DoJ, opening July 27, 2018.

Oh, yeah? Sez you!
