Bryan Singer, director of the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, announced on Instagram that Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In) has joined the cast as Nightcrawler.
No, not the Jake Gyllenhaal character from last summer’s Nightcrawler; rather the German-born, sticks-to-walls, teleporting blue-skinned mutant last seen onscreen portrayed brilliantly by Alan Cumming in X2: X-Men United.
Singer wrote: “Excited to welcome @kodismitmcphee to the cast of #XmenApocalypse as young #Nightcrawler.”
In the comics, Nightcrawler, a.k.a. Kurt Wagner, could teleport from place to place in a puff of smoke with his trademark “BAMF!” sound effect.
X-Men: Apocalypse will BAMF! into theaters on May 27, 2016.
