’50 Shades of Grey’ Film Is Tied to Comic Books

'Fifty Shades of Grey' Premiere - AUDI At The 65th Berlinale International Film FestivalStrangely enough, the movie Fifty Shades of Grey, — which is definitely not for children  despite the juvenile writing of its source material — has a connection to the comic book world: Director Sam Taylor-Johnson is married to actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, best-known for playing the title role in the two Kick-Ass movies and soon to become quite a bit more famous for portraying Quicksilver in this summer’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Sam is well-respected photographer in the world of fine arts, where she has been nominated for such prestigious awards as Britain’s Turner Prize. Back when she was an artist known as Sam Taylor-Wood, she recreated the Last Supper with Jesus reimagined as a topless woman. And her “Crying Men” portraits of Robin Williams, Sean PennPaul Newman, Laurence Fishburne and Dustin Hoffman depicted the Hollywood stars… well, crying.
