DOCTOR WHO and SHERLOCK executive producer Steven Moffat recently admitted that he would love for his two series to do a cross-over story – but also that it is unlikely to happen because he’s the only one who wants it to happen.
Look I’m going to come clean on this: I would. Go speak to Benedict Cumberbatch [Sherlock], Martin Freeman [Watson], [and producers] Mark Gatiss and Sue Vertue, okay? They’re all in the way. I’m not the killjoy, it’s that lot. It’s probably not going to happen.
The Grand Moff also allows that SHERLOCK co-creator Gatiss may be correct in his belief that the two worlds are better off staying separate – for the good of the characters themselves!
You know in some ways, I think Mark has got a point when he says that however good you imagine [the crossover], it would be almost better in your imagination than it would be if the two grand old egotists actually met. They’d just both go off in opposite corners and sulk that there was someone cleverer than them.
Fans should probably let the issue drop; you may recall that Vertue is also Moffat’s wife, and we don’t want to cause any friction in the household, do we?
