Warner Bros. and DC Comics has picked up the gauntlet thrown down by Marvel Studio’s announcement of its planned movie release slate through 2019 and responded with its own menu of opening days — through 2020, no less — and with an equivalent lack of title details.
The announcement calls dibs on: Aug. 8, 2016; June 23, 2017; Nov. 17, 2017; March 23, 2018; July 27, 2018; April 5, 2019; June 14, 2019; April 3, 2020; and June 19, 2020. (In addition, Warners marked out Nov. 15, 2018, and Nov. 20, 2020 for J.K. Rowling‘s Fantastic Beasts films, which should appeal to a similar audience, just to clutter up the calendar even more.)
While no titles have been announced, it’s pretty much a sure thing that we will see a Justice League movie and a Wonder Wonder solo vehicle. But beyond that? Another rebooted Batman? Another bash at Green Lantern? More Henry Cavill-led Superman flicks? DC is keeping its cards close to the vest.
