She’s a Wonder of a Woman!

wonderpicDirector Zack Snyder shocked and delighted Comic-Con International: San Diego this morning (or so I hear, because I’m not there!) with teaser footage from the still-filming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice — and the reveal of Wonder Woman!

While the 20 seconds of film footage are not available, the image of Gal Gadot in all her Amazonian glory is. What do you think? Works for me!

After so many misfires onscreen and on the page, I think somebody (Michael Wilkinson, to be exact) got a modern Wonder Woman costume right! And Gal‘s glare looks pretty convincing, too.

Batman Does Not Look Amused

sdbatffleckThis new of Ben Affleck in costume and in character as a grizzled, older Batman in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, should chill the alien blood of that careless Kryptonian killer, Superman (Henry Cavill).

The image is part of a 75th anniversary montage of Batman images created for the DC Comics booth at Comic-Con International: San Diego that shows various versions of the character over the years.

A statement from DC Comics confirmed that the image is from Zack Snyder‘s film:

Yes, as fans have started pointing out, within the dozens of photos and illustrations on the wall is a brand new image of Batman from the upcoming film Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The filmmakers wanted to include this new cinematic version of the Dark Knight in the anniversary mosaic so it could be discovered by fans.

‘Expendables 3’: The Eye Test

They may be expendable, but the movie franchise refuses to die! Perhaps winking at that fact, the character posters for The Expendables 3 seem intent on murdering your eyeballs!

In this latest go-round, Sylvester Stallone‘s Barney goes up against his old pal, the presumed-dead co-founder of the Expendables, Conrad Stonebanks — played by Mel Gibson. Barney’s returning champions — played by Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Jet Li and Arnold Schwarzenegger — are joined by Wesley Snipes, Kelsey Grammer, Harrison Ford, Ronda Rousey, Kellan Lutz, Antonio Banderas and Robert Davi.Yay, Ronda Rousey, but… Kelsey Grammer and Kellan Lutz?

Super-sized ‘Guardians’ Video Clip

In this five-minute video clip, we get a taste of how the members of the Guardians of the Galaxy work together, and the verdict is: not well.

I really like Chris Pratt‘s version of Peter Quill/Star-Lord, and his devotion to his killer playlist.

Does the universe stand a chance if these guys are our last hope? We’ll find out Aug. 1.

Thanos IS in ‘Guardians’ – and Josh Brolin Plays Him!

joshthanosMarvel Studios’ head of production, Kevin Feige confirmed that Oscar-nominated actor Josh Brolin plays the villain Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy – and has signed a multipicture deal.

you may recall Thanos as the deep-space Big Bad who was revealed to have been pulling the strings in The Avengers. Well he’s a cosmic-level baddie, so it’s no surprise to see him pop up all over the place, including in GotG.

This Is Real: J.J. and X-Wing Fighter From ‘Episode VII’

Director J.J. Abrams is back to remind fans of the chance to win a cameo in Star Wars: Episode VII by making a $10 donation to UNICEF through Star Wars: A Force for Change — and this time he has upped the ante with a chance to win an advance screening of the movie. Oh, and did we mention he’s standing in front of a battle-damaged X-wing fighter and encounters a pilot dressed like a member of the rebel alliance from the first film — and there’s even a mouse droid?

After considering the madness that is the latest Episode VII plot leak, it’s good to see something straight from the horse’s mouth! We can trust J.J. himself, right? He wouldn’t lie to us about what’s in his movie… right?

Stupidest ‘Star Wars’ Rumor of the Day

lukehandConsidering the heavy blanket of secrecy thrown over the production of Star Wars: Episode VII, it’s easy to understand people grasping at the most flimsy of straws when it comes to rumors about what director J.J. Abrams is up to – but today’s alleged plot leak is so extremely ridiculous that I’m not even labeling it a spoiler. It’s just too dumb to consider.

He Wore Blue Velvet? Red King Crab in Disguise!

An extremely rare blue-colored red king crab has been plucked from the Bering Sea – and it’s at least the second specimen captured this year. Back in January, another lavender-hued crustacean was pulled from the same waters.

Nome, Alaska, fisherman Frank MacFarland spotted the latest mutant delicacy in a pot on July 4, and Alaska Department of Fish and Game biologist Scott Kent happened to be nearby to snap a photo. However, Kent could offer no concrete explanation for the weird coloring, telling KNOM radio:

The best answer I can give you is, I have no idea. My hunch is it’s just a very rare mutation and expressed in only few individuals within a population.
