Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in Avengers Action!

Thanks to news photo service Getty Images, we now have a boatload of photos depicting the Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Hawkeye in action as part of location filming in Aosta, Italy, on March 24. There are a lot of images, so I’ll break them up into galleries.

First, Scarlet Witch (played by Elizabeth Olsen) seems to be using her probability-altering hex power to conjure some sort of spell — doubtless there will be CGI elements inserted in post-production. Her costume may be nothing like its comic book version, but I still like it a lot.

Next, we have Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) “dashing” across the set. Can’t say much about his costume, as it looks sort of “meh,” but somehow does manage to echo his look in the comics. At least a little bit. And while his hair is platinum, it just doesn’t look quite right.

Finally, Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) — sporting the same black-and-purple duds as last time,  fires arrows at unknown assailants. Or are they unknown? One photo appears to show an actor in a partially robotic costume, so that could be a stand-in for Ultron, or one of his metallic minions.

The Italian location is believed to be standing in for a fictional Serbian town, where the three heroes are attempting to rescue civilians from Ultron’s grasp.

If you want to know why so many shots are from an overhead angle and what becomes of the civilians, read on, but Spoiler Warning: a teeny tiny little spoiler lies ahead…

They are rescued by an airship that drops out of the sky. It’s probably from S.H.I.E.L.D., though it could be an Avengers quinjet, I suppose. More interesting: Did Wanda’s hex power alter reality and make the rescue ship suddenly appear?
