Quick on the heels of announcing a guest shot by Lady Sif, Marvel has confirmed that AGENTS OF SHIELD will soon feature another Asgardian — the troublemaking sorceress Lorelei — and a homicidal cyborg known as Deathlok — who will have a familiar face.
You didn’t think that SHIELD went to the trouble of casting a recognizable face in the throwaway role of Mike Peterson in the AoS pilot for nothing, did you? J. August Richards — known to many as Gunn from ANGEL — will play Deathlok, a character created back in the 1970s, a half-human killing machine who just might herald the resurgent threat of Centipede.
Jeph Loeb, the former comics writer who now oversees Marvel’s TV operations, said, “We’ve been leaving breadcrumbs along the way. This is a major Marvel character appearing on TV, on film for the first time.”
Lorelei, who will be played by Elena Satine, is the little sister of the Enchantress, a major recurring villainess in Thor’s comic books who has yet to show her face on the silver screen. In the comics, Lorelei is entangled with Loki and Malekith the Dark Elf and the Casket of Ancient Winters — all major players and story elements in the Thor movies. Lorelei is irresistible to men, so it’s little wonder that Sif (Jaimie Alexander) has been sent to chase her down on Earth. Will she cause mischief among the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents?
No airdates have been announced for the new characters.
