It’s the day before Election Day here in the United States of America, and I think all bloggers are legally required to write something about the presidential race, so consider this me fulfilling my obligation to the blogosphere: Vote! No matter whom you favor, make sure to get out there and make your voice heard.
Now that I have gotten that out of the way, let’s get to the meat of what I have to say: Do not vote for Republican Mitt Romney or the Democratic incumbent, President Barack Obama, tomorrow. Vote for Gary Johnson, the Libertarian Party candidate for president.
Look, unless you live in one of the swing states, your vote is pretty much meaningless. I live in a solid blue state, so voting for Romney would be an exercise in futility, and voting for Obama would just be piling on. The situation is parallel in deep red states. The only way guaranteed to make your 2012 vote truly count for something is to cast your ballot for a third party. And if you do that, you literally will be voting for the future of the United States: 2016.
If Gary Johnson can gather just 5 percent of the popular vote, a strong, stable third party will party will be born, because the Libertarian Party will be eligible for matching funds from Federal Election Commission in the 2016 election cycle. That means we the people will not be forced to pick the lesser of two evils, or choose the dirtbag who offends us the least. The dominance of the two-party system will be broken.
End the tyranny of the two-party system by voting for a third!!
