Cool Art Teasers From Comic-Con

Here are some pretty cool pieces of art from Comic Con International: San Diego 2012, promoting upcoming projects that I am looking forward to…

Guardians of the Galaxy was an excellent recent comic book series that I really enjoyed. It told some really great, huge space-opera stories that had the cosmic heft necessary to be take seriously as epics. I was stunned when this was announced as an upcoming live-action film — but also happy. This concept art shows (from left) Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Star Lord, Rocket Raccoon and Gamora.

Here’s the official teaser poster for next year’s Man of Steel. Looks interesting only because the Man of Tomorrow’s face is shrouded in shadow, as if he’s brooding. Indeed, word is that this version of Supes will emphasize his otherness and stress his feelings of alienation. Word is a teaser trailer will be attached to The Dark Knight Rises.

Finally, this Iron Man 3 poster is subtly different because it includes armor from the third movie (It’s the shiny silvery one on the pedestal in the middle), which was not present in earlier versions. Writer/director Shane Black has confirmed that the Mandarin is the Big Bad, and he will be played by Sir Ben Kingsley. And Extremis will also factor in. Look for it on May 3, 2013.

Oh, yeah? Sez you!
