As you can see, the new design has decidedly… um, fascist undertones. Oh, hell, I’ll just say it: They look like Space N@zis, don’t they? And not the kind seen in the classic series episode “Patterns of Force.” How could such a forward-looking, hopeful organization as the United Federation of Planets turn into a fascist police state? Well, what if it was already evil? And Star Trek fans know where an evil version of the Federation exists: In the Mirror Universe! Are we going to see J.J. Abrams’ take on the “Mirror, Mirror” episode?
The source of the photo is the little girl standing between Simon Pegg’s Scotty and Anton Yelchin’s Chekov: Anjini Taneja Azhar is so far credited by IMDb as playing “Girl,” but fandom suspects she portrays the daughter of characters played by Noel Clarke (DOCTOR WHO’s former “Mickey the Idiot”) and Nanzeen Contractor. Little Anjini wanted photos with the cast members, and her talent agent posted them online.
