My DOCTOR WHO Series 6 wish list

It’s the eve of the premiere of Series 6 of the revived DOCTOR WHO (Season 32 as far as I’m concerned) and I could not be more excited! The 11th Doctor! Amy! River Song! The Silence! I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve… To while away the time until “The Impossible Astronaut” airs, I thought I’d share a few wacky ideas from my wish list of Stuff I’d Like to See on the show this season. I have no inside information; just some crazy dreams…

Series 6 once again stars Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor, Karen Gillan as Amy Pond, and Arthur Darvill as Rory Pond (It’s true, he really did take her name when they married!) And this is what I would like to see happen:

-Matt Smith really cuts loose! In his first series as the Doctor, Matt successfully took over the role and made me (almost) forget about David Tennant. Now, in his second season, I am looking for Matt to make the character his own. He’s got the look; he’s got the persona nailed; all he needs to do is run with it! Each Doctor evolves over time, and I cannot wait to see what fresh spins Matt puts on the iconic Time Lord.

-More Amy Pond. There’s no such thing as “too much Amy,” so I hope Lead Writer Steven Moffat uses his most wonderful creation as much as possible.

-No Daleks! The pepperpots need a season off to rest and reconsider what they really want out of the universe. (Also, this would give the controversy over last season’s Dalek redesign even more time to cool down.)

-Mondasian Cybermen. That’s right, the Cybermen original continuity need to get some R-E-S-P-E-C-T. The “Pete’s Universe” cyborgs have been impressive in the new series, but the real Silver Nemesis, the baddies from the 10th planet, Mondas, who have dogged the Doctor since his first incarnation, need to return. A war between the Cybermen of “our” universe and Pete’s dimension would be a dream, but I’ll settle for a story that uses just the classic Cybermen in any capacity. I hear the story this season (called “A Good Man Goes to War”) has echoes of that all-time classic, “The Tomb of the Cybermen,” so I am hopeful…

-The surprise return of an old enemy. Sure, it was fun to see the Silurians again in last year’s two-parter, but I’m thinking more along the lines of the Macra popping up in “Gridlock” back in Series 3 – a menace that was completely unexpected and not spoiled. Could it happen again?

-Even More Amy! I know I already mentioned that, but as I also, there can never be too much Amy…

-A Previous Doctor. I know, this is the craziest notion yet, but that little hint of a rumor about Paul McGann shooting a cameo in a new Eighth Doctor costume (right) instantly fired my imagination. In my heart, I know it’s not happening, but a man can dream, right?

Anyway, no matter what’s on my wish list, I’m certain that the Grand Moff will come up with something even better. He has earned my trust, and I am willing to follow him and the Doctor and Amy anywhere…

Oh, yeah? Sez you!
