This Wednesday, DC Comics releases the first issue of Minutemen, the first of a whole passel of comics collectively referred to as “Before Watchmen” – prequels to the greatest comic book story ever told, Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ Watchmen.
DC is going all out to promote this abomination project, including commissioning a TV commercial:
It should be noted that original writer Moore could not be more opposed to “Before Watchmen,” and original artist Gibbons gave tepid support with and said he understood why DC would do such a thing ($$$$$$$$).
For me and many, many other Watchmen fans/purists, Wednesday is a test. Will we resist buying, or will we sell our souls and pick up a copy. I’m telling myself I can hate-read the series…

Count me in the “resist buying” category. I refuse to spend my money on this. I will not even be picking up a copy to flip through it in the store. I’m just going to completely ignore it.
I have not so much as cracked open a cover from either “Minutemen” or “Silk Spectre.” I’m resisting.
I couldn’t resist. I confess. You were both right though (see my latest post)
